Mount Flora

Browsed through the book "CO Summit Hikes for Everyone" and were planning on driving to Georgetown and heading up the Waldorf Road to Waldorf to do either Wilcox / Otter or Argentine Peak. Part of the fun would be looking around an old mining town

We realized Friday night that Waldorf Road may be too rough for our car so changed plans to 13,146' Mount Flora from Berthoud Pass. Need to look at OHVs

Looking towards Winter Park

Nice single track that was slippery mud on the way back as it "warmed up"

This run suggestion came from "Best Hikes with Dogs" and said it was 5 miles RT. After 2.5 miles I was standing on something. The book mentioned a false summit. Looked around and decided to head across to what I assumed was Mount Flora but did a quick look - coverage. A quick internet search showed me where I was about to go was actually Breckenridge Peak

Got back on the trail and 15 minutes later was on the summit. It is more like 7 miles RT. Views are excellent

I am happy - I was eating a bar

A fun run. Unfortunately Maureen had turned around close to the summit not feeling well - probably assuming it was only going to get colder and windier...

Running of the Bulls / Caribou Peak

Headed up to Estes Park for the Running of the Bulls - a local 3.75 miler starting at the Marina and doing an easy loop around Lake Estes

The start of the race was delayed by elk - it's mating season (also know as "the rut"). Hard to say if this guy is on the prowl or if he already has his harem

The race went well - a 7:03 pace good for 6th place. Note my lucky Vancouver Canucks tuque

After a stop at The Stanley we headed to Caribou Peak, a 12,310' summit in the Indian Peaks. I don't think it's a common destination - there isn't even a trail off the popular Arapaho Glacier trail to the summit. You just head up at some point

Views are awesome emerging above treeline - the below pics show where Boulder gets 40% of its water

The summit

The fall foliage is maybe close to peak (or approaching it)

These were off Peak-to-Peak (in between the two large signs that say "No Stopping on Road") - must have been 60 cars off to the side

Dog Days at Scott Carpenter Park

This was Hudson at the pool on Monday (loudest dog) & Wednesday (grumpiest dog)

So we bought a 2-week pass for $35. Last year was fun - maybe this year Hudson would actually swim like other dogs

Maybe even dive off the diving board

Noooo...these are his best water pics over 4 days

So we spent $35 so he could walk around - like he does every morning for free at Dry Creek. Hahaha!

Obviously he has a great time and he even got to meet his doppelganger - Chico. I'd swear it was Hud if it wasn't for the slightly thicker tail. He even had a black tongue too

Mount Evans

Headed up to Mount Evans Saturday - fall is beginning...

...as is winter

The 6-mile run / walk to the 14,264' summit

Marmots

Observatory

At the summit

Green & Bear Above the Clouds

Looking north while heading up Green

Hiking off trail

Looking east - Boulder is below

There's Bear

Looking back at Green from the summit of Bear

Good view of fire damage
